Exhaust Fans
Troubleshooting and repair for roof, wall and inline exhaust fans that will not start, move enough air or run reliably.
Commercial kitchen ventilation service
EMH Mechanical diagnoses and repairs kitchen exhaust, makeup air, rooftop HVAC equipment and the controls that tie them together. We look at the mechanical system as a whole when the kitchen is hot, smoky, uncomfortable or not moving air the way it should.

Diagnose before replacing
Kitchen ventilation problems can come from the fan, duct, makeup air, controls or the way the building has changed over time.
We inspect the accessible mechanical equipment, confirm what is and is not operating, and trace the problem before recommending a repair. If the existing system is no longer practical to repair, we can define a replacement scope.
Commercial kitchen service scope
We work on the ventilation and HVAC systems serving the kitchen—not the cooking appliances themselves.
Troubleshooting and repair for roof, wall and inline exhaust fans that will not start, move enough air or run reliably.
Inspection and replacement of worn drive components, failed motors, noisy bearings and damaged fan assemblies.
Repair of blowers, dampers, heating sections, filters and controls on the equipment replacing exhausted air.
Diagnosis of switches, relays, starters, safeties and control sequences that coordinate kitchen ventilation equipment.
Mechanical investigation of weak capture, excessive negative pressure, hot work areas and uneven replacement air.
Service for packaged rooftop equipment and related systems that support comfort and ventilation in the building.
Accessible ductwork, dampers, connections and restrictions checked when equipment runs but airflow is still wrong.
Replacement planning when a fan, makeup-air unit, rooftop unit or control system is no longer worth repairing.

Service that follows the problem
A fan that stops can be a motor, belt, starter, control signal, safety or power problem. A smoky kitchen can be exhaust, replacement air, duct restriction or a building-pressure issue. Good service starts by separating the symptom from the cause.
Talk through the problemWhen it started, what changed and which equipment is affected.
Inspect the systemCheck accessible mechanical, electrical and airflow conditions.
Confirm the failureIdentify the failed component or operating condition before quoting unnecessary work.
Repair and testComplete the approved work and verify the equipment and control sequence.

What belongs to another trade
EMH Mechanical does not repair cooking appliances, commercial refrigeration or fire-suppression systems. When a ventilation problem involves one of those systems, we explain the mechanical findings and coordinate with the appropriate contractor as the job requires.
EMH Mechanical provides a one-year labor warranty on commercial work. Parts, manufacturer coverage and project-specific terms vary by repair and equipment.
Southeast Michigan service area
Based in Clinton Township, EMH Mechanical works with restaurants, food-service operators, property managers and facility teams throughout our primary service area.
Commercial kitchen service answers
Have the building address, equipment location, symptoms, model and serial numbers, and access information ready when possible.
We service the mechanical systems that support the kitchen, including exhaust fans, makeup-air equipment, rooftop HVAC units, motors, belts, bearings, dampers, controls, interlocks and related ductwork. The exact repair depends on the equipment and failure.
Yes. We check whether exhaust is moving, replacement air is available, dampers and filters are clear, controls are operating and the supporting HVAC system is doing its part. More than one issue may be contributing to the condition.
No. We work on the HVAC, exhaust and makeup-air systems serving the kitchen. Cooking appliances and refrigeration equipment should be handled by the appropriate commercial appliance or refrigeration contractor.
Yes. If the existing equipment is no longer repairable or does not fit the operation, we can review replacement options and the related curb, duct, electrical, gas and control requirements.
A running fan does not guarantee proper airflow. Worn belts, incorrect rotation, damaged wheels, blocked duct, closed dampers, grease buildup, missing makeup air and control problems can all reduce performance. We diagnose the mechanical condition before recommending work.
Yes. We troubleshoot the mechanical controls that start and coordinate exhaust, makeup air and supporting HVAC equipment. Fire-suppression components and certification remain the responsibility of the licensed fire-suppression contractor.
Yes. Maintenance can include inspection of accessible fans, belts, bearings, motors, controls, dampers, filters and general equipment condition. Hood and duct cleaning is a separate specialty service and should be completed by a qualified kitchen-exhaust cleaning company.
