How automatic backup works
A standby generator remains outside the building and connects through an automatic transfer system. During an outage, the system detects the loss of utility power, starts the generator and transfers the selected loads. When utility power returns, the transfer equipment moves the building back to the utility and the generator completes its cooldown cycle.
