No-Heat Diagnosis
Testing for ignition, electrical, gas, airflow, venting, safety-control and thermostat problems.
Furnace & forced-air service
EMH Mechanical repairs and replaces residential furnaces and forced-air heating systems. We find the problem, explain the options and check the airflow, venting, controls and ductwork that affect how the furnace runs.

Start with the system
The equipment depends on proper airflow, gas pressure, venting, controls and ductwork. If one of those is wrong, even a good furnace can run poorly or shut down.
That is why we look beyond the fault code. Whether the call ends with a repair or a replacement, the recommendation should account for the rest of the heating system and the home it serves.
Residential heating work
Heating service and installation for existing homes, renovations, additions and new residential systems.
Testing for ignition, electrical, gas, airflow, venting, safety-control and thermostat problems.
Repair of failed motors, controls, ignition components, switches, valves and other serviceable furnace parts.
Removal and replacement planned around the home, ductwork, venting, utilities and heating load.
Condensing furnace installation with the correct venting, combustion air and condensate drainage.
Blower-speed setup, temperature-rise checks and airflow corrections that help the furnace operate properly.
Standard and smart thermostats, furnace controls and zoning components matched to the system.
Return-air problems, duct restrictions, blower setup and corrections that affect heat delivery.
Heating-equipment venting and gas piping when included in the repair or installation scope.

The right system for the space
The home layout, insulation, windows, air leakage and Michigan design temperature all affect the heating load. The ductwork must also be able to move the airflow the selected furnace requires.
Replacing the old furnace with the same capacity does not automatically mean the old system was sized correctly. We review the application before recommending equipment.
Discuss Furnace OptionsRepair or replace?
Many furnaces can be repaired safely and reasonably. We look at the failed component, heat exchanger, repair history, parts availability and condition of the rest of the system.
A major repair may not make sense when the furnace has other problems or is nearing the end of its useful life. We explain the condition and let the numbers guide the decision.
Furnace replacement process
We review the existing furnace, home, ductwork, venting, gas, electrical and installation space.
Equipment and scope are selected around the house, budget and level of performance requested.
We confirm equipment, access, installation timing and any work that must be completed by others.
The old equipment is removed and the new system, connections, venting and drainage are completed.
We operate the furnace, check the installation and provide the applicable warranty information.
Residential installation warranty
Qualifying residential heating installations include EMH Mechanical's transferable 12-year labor warranty. If the homeowner sells, the coverage can stay with the home under the warranty terms.
*Equipment registration, maintenance and other warranty terms apply.
EMH Mechanical installs Bryant heating equipment and can build options around the home, efficiency target and budget.

Furnace & heating questions
If the furnace is unsafe, smoking, sparking or you smell gas, shut it down, leave the area when necessary and contact the proper emergency service or utility first.
Make sure the thermostat is set to heat, the temperature setting is above the room temperature and the furnace switch and breaker are on. Check the filter if it is easy to reach. If you smell gas, see smoke or the equipment is making an unsafe noise, shut it down and contact the proper emergency service or utility before troubleshooting further.
Yes. EMH Mechanical diagnoses and repairs residential gas furnaces and installs replacement systems. We check the equipment, venting, gas piping, electrical, airflow and duct connections that affect safe operation and performance.
An 80% furnace typically uses metal venting and sends more heat out through the flue. A high-efficiency condensing furnace captures more of that heat, normally vents through approved plastic piping and produces condensate that must be drained correctly. The right choice depends on the house, existing venting, installation conditions and budget.
Square footage is only one part of the answer. The home layout, insulation, windows, air leakage, ductwork and outdoor design conditions all affect the heating load. Replacing a furnace with the same size does not automatically mean the old system was sized correctly.
Repair often makes sense when the failure is isolated, the heat exchanger is in good condition, replacement parts are available and the rest of the equipment still has useful life. Age matters, but it is not the only factor. We look at the whole system before making a recommendation.
Yes. A plugged filter, undersized return, restricted ductwork, incorrect blower setup or closed registers can cause poor comfort and may make the furnace cycle on a safety limit. We check the equipment and the airflow conditions that can affect it.
Qualifying residential installations include EMH Mechanical's transferable 12-year labor warranty. Manufacturer coverage and registration requirements vary by equipment. The final warranty terms are included with the installation paperwork.
