VRF systems use inverter-driven outdoor equipment connected to multiple indoor units. The system varies refrigerant flow as the building load changes instead of operating at one fixed output.

That gives owners and designers more flexibility when different areas have different schedules, exposures and comfort requirements. The result depends on the design: equipment selection, piping, controls, ventilation, condensate and access all have to work together.

What is a VRF HVAC system?+

VRF stands for variable refrigerant flow. One or more outdoor units serve multiple indoor units while inverter-driven compressors adjust refrigerant flow to match the demand in each connected zone.

What is the difference between VRF heat pump and heat recovery?+

A heat-pump VRF system operates connected zones in the same general heating or cooling mode. Heat-recovery VRF can provide heating and cooling to different zones at the same time when the system is designed for that operation.

Does EMH Mechanical install Fujitsu AIRSTAGE VRF systems?+
